Celia Deane-Drummond graduated in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University and obtained a doctorate in plant physiology at Reading University prior to two postdoctoral fellowships at the University of British Columbia and Cambridge University. She subsequently took up a lectureship in plant physiology at Durham University prior to turning her attention more fully to theological study.

Celia qualified originally as a plant scientist, gaining an honours degree in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University, followed by a doctorate in plant physiology from Reading University. She subsequently held postdoctoral fellowships at UBC (Canada) and Cambridge Universities prior to taking up a teaching post in the Botany Department at Durham.
Celia Deane-Drummond is a professor of theology at the University of Notre Dame.She earned a doctorate in plant physiology and now focuses on the intersection of theology and the biological sciences. She has lectured widely on environmental ethics and has authored or edited 22 books, including Seeds of Hope: Facing the Challenge of Climate Justice (CAFOD, 2009).

And so the North, South, East, West is really a way of both emphasizing the global aspects of eco-theology but also as a way to maybe help them situate themselves between these different strands and realize that these different traditions have something.
